Day three. Part two, Madrid

We went back to the hotel to meet with Seniorita Green and took the metro to the agency. We walked a ton and met Ms. Gillian outside the EFE Newswire agency had to show our passports and go through security before we entered the building. We had two great tour guides from EFE to show us around. We first when upstairs to where one of their meeting/ conference rooms was located and we heard some background of EFE Newswire agency. We also got a chance to watch their latest advertisement commercial which was great by the way. We also got an opportunity to ask questions during this meeting and it was so interesting to hear so much background about the company. Also in the conference room I noticed some amazing photos hanging on the walls behind us. These particular photos are some of the agencies most popular and famous photos.

After all our questions were answered we headed downstairs to see where they store their photos. The photo archive was so amazing; it basically has the history of Spain just in this archive. There were so many photos stored in that exact location where we were all standing. Just thinking about it is pretty amazing. I think the huge thick silver bins they were stored in are also fire proof. I may have misunderstood but whatever they were stored in looked legitimate to me. Some photos that were hanging up were just speechless and amazing. One photo in particular that our group took a close look at was the photo of Hitler. The famous altered photo of Hitler that no one had noticed being an altered photo until many many years later. We got the chance to see the original photo and how the altered picture looked slightly different especially the heights of the two gentlemen in the photo. As many of you may know Hitler was about 5’9” so he wasn’t very tall compared to the other people he encountered. I wish I had a picture of the photo I am talking about but just looking at the changes and editing of this image before “editing” was even crafted. It was all done by scissors and a scanner and maybe even determination. That must have taken some good time to complete the altering of the image.
Next we went to visit the offices where everyone works. The offices were sectioned off according to who the writers are writing for. There was a group of people who wrote solely for American news and with other countries as well. While walking through the office we came upon a world map. This map was amazing because it had push pins in different locations indicating where they have reporters placed that way all the news and great information is covered. Very cool. So our tour of EFE newswire agency was a lot of fun and filled with interesting stories. For more details and information feel free to visit www.efe.com
