Day three, Madrid

So I wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy. Oh wait that was a dream but I did wake up listening to the one and only lady gaga. While me and the other girls we getting dressed for the day we blasted some lady gaga this morning singing, “alejandro, alejandro, ale ale alejandro.” Amazing song by the way. Well out first stop for the day it the Royal Palace. Yay so excited! We’re ready on time so we go downstairs to meet the rest of the crew for some breakfast then we’re off to the Royal Palace with Jillian, our british tour guide. We took the metro to the Palace and the metro is always an experience in itself. It’s not bad just tons of people and squishing into smelling old armpit trains. Grody!

Well here it is folks, we arrived at the group entrance to the Royal Palace where we were greeted by our Spanish tour guide Iris. We went into the entrance of the palace and had to go through security and check our purses and then we were given a green sticker to indicate our permission to be there. As soon as we walk in I start getting more and more excited to enter the inside of the palace. I mean we’re already past the gates but not officially inside the palace.

Well it’s time to enter, we get inside and it’s arrived. We are told to be quiet first and for most because some of us were being a little too loud. Pssh what did they expect us to be, we’re all just soooo excited! We first walk up these marble stairs which look really tall but were surprisingly easy to walk up. They are made of pure marble and were designed a particular way to make walking up and down an ease. They are designed longer and wider and the height of each stair is also shortened. With this technique I think I can walk up and down these stairs all day. As soon as we get up the stairs there was a security guard at the top looking down at everyone and watching them like a hawk. It was a little intimidating at first but after seeing them around every corner of the palace you begin to get used to security.

Walking through the entire palace was just breath taking. The interior decorations were extremely detailed and so renaissance and elegant. There were over 2,750 rooms in the entire palace. So many rooms, what would you use them all for? Well King Philip the fourth wanted to use each room for a different occasion which didn’t work out so well because there was just too many rooms to put into use. There were originally 2,800 rooms. Insane amount if you ask me. I was guessing maybe 300 rooms maximum… nope!

Well the only disappointing thing about the royal palace was the fact that we couldn’t take any pictures to have a visual memory. That was a bummer. So all the breath taking rooms will forever be a secret but just take my word for it, they were absolutely beautiful. There were different themes such as Asian inspired smoking room, a complete porcelain room, the dance hall, and my favorite the room with the thrones and gorgeous chandeliers.

Before completely exiting the palace we took a look at the view from the balcony outside and got the opportunity to take pictures. Here comes another incident. We were leaving the palace when the group realized that Allison and Emily were missing. We all waited for them by the fountain. Abby finally spotted them and I began waving them down with my fuchsia pink cardigan. Apparently they stopped to get water and when they turned back the group was nowhere in sight and they were lost. They got pick pocketed and finally found their way back to the group safe and sound thank goodness. Oh Spain how you are just full of surprises good and bad. Next up EFE news wire agency.
